I used to go mostly to the country side but i can honestly say when ya'll were playing on the rock side i spent a lot of time over there.Don't really know if ya'll remember me but i was the one everybody called "Elvis" and used to go and listen to the group called "Coyote" and then they changed their name to "Heartland Radio". Some of the members of that band were Deanna,Kelly and Bruce i think. I sent this via email (thanks for the reply, Bill) and thought a "public pat on the back" was due for my favorite old San Diego band. For anyone who has seen Crystal perform, you know what a treat it was. Their stage presence, energy, musicianship, and cohesiveness made Crystal a perennial favorite for thousands of San Diego fans. I was blessed to be able to see them regularly at my part time job. While I didn't know them personally, I had the pleasure of making acquaintances with the band (mainly Rick and Andy). They were all genuinely nice people. I just came across my old Crystal cassette from 1989 and that prompted me to do a search. Well, I found the website and wanted to say thanks for all the great shows at Jon Jentz's old Dance Machine in IB. I used to work there part time as a door man from about '87 to '90. My wife (then girlfriend) was a waitress there as well. Andy was kind enough to let me play his bass a few times while he played drums and Rick came out front to sing. Good times! I was in the Navy back then, and still am. Still playing bass, too. I'm glad to see everyone has kept active musically, even if not together as Crystal. Hopefully I can catch a show with TCB, Serious Guise, or Full Xposure the next time I visit SD. |

I really enjoyed working at Gator Gardens (and partyin' on the clock!) while watching my fave local band with that "crazy Drummer-pounding his forehead" in the middle of "Gimme Three Steps"--C'mon- ya'll remember his stage presence! Decided to do a websearch to see if I could locate a friend of mine from years ago. Andy and I used to be neighbors in Lemon Grove. One of the first 'gigs' we had was at our elementary school. His father was a pretty talented guitar player and eventually we made a couple bucks playing weddings and then when I joined another band he subbed for our drummer from time to time. Still got a picture or two from back then. |
