Bio

Never one to be going in only one direction, Bill Cornish seeks out projects that allow him to utilize his many influences. In addition to producing solo CDs which thenmselves are an eclectic blend of jazz, funk, orchestral and world fusion, he is also the keyboardist for the jazz/rock fusion project The Odd Get Even (featuring Ike Turner alumni drummer Bill Ray) and the Chicago-based tribal-jam-rock band Giant Shadows.

Of his solo album, Sojourn, JazzReview.com says, "...a truly diverse and illustrative project.  It proves worthy of its boast that it’s an exercise in cinematic storytelling and that Cornish’s music defies easy categorization.  There are strong flirts with blues, jazz, and world touches."

Over the years, Bill has been the keyboardist for a variety of bands including The Thomas Connor Band (rock project featuring Blood Sweat & Tears singer Thomas Connor), Zindu (improvisational groove fusion), Will Sumner's Tropic Zone (latin influenced jazz), and Willovalot (smooth jazz and funk).

From the early 80s through the mid-90s, he was keyboardist for Crystal, a band with whom he spent twelve years touring throughout the western United States, Alaska and Japan. During that time he opened for artists such as Kansas, Steelheart, Joan Jett, Steppenwolf, Firehouse, The Romantics, Pat Travers, and many others. The Crystal album Collection was among the top ten selling melodic rock CDs for German distributor AOR Heaven in the year 2000.

2012 promises to be a busy year for Bill. In addition to the just-released album Stories Without Words, he has new CDs coming from his own project, Giant Shadows, The Odd Get Even, The Thomas Connor Band as well as a reissue of classic material from Crystal.
